The annulment of the June 12 1993 elections and the subsequent rioting and threats of war led to the return of most Nigerians to their places of origin. Universities and other higher institutions in all parts of the country were shut down as the tension in the nation was building up. As a result, the period from June 24, 1993 – the date of the annulment – up to the proposed date of Swearing in – August 26, 1993 – witnessed a mass exodus of persons of Eastern Nigeria origin from various parts of Nigeria back to the Eastern homeland. Ohanze community was not left out as it witnessed the return of a large number of Ohanze youths from all nooks and crannies of Nigeria. Coincidentally, the burial of Late Israel Ojogho was planned for this period. A good number of these young men participated in the burial activities of Israel Ojogho in solidarity with his son, Kelechi Ojogho, who they identified as one of their own.

Beloved Brethren,
We have numerous reasons, once again, to thank Almighty God, who, in His infinite grace, has watched over us and kept us to witness this year’s AGM, tagged “Uyo 2023.”.
I cannot help but express my profound gratitude for the immeasurable support that I have been privileged to enjoy from all of you. I use this medium to say thank you to all the members, and in particular the BoD, for being there for this club.
As we all know, this club is 30 years this year, to the glory of God! This fact places a huge responsibility on our shoulders, as a club 30-year-old individual is no longer a baby.
During the course of these 30 years, we have implemented many of our ideologies towards achieving the goals of this club.
We have organized satisfactorily the annual Super League, which, besides providing entertainment for the community, has helped many young boys to have a direction for their future and also helped to reduce the level of social vices around our community.
We have involved ourselves in many community service efforts as a way of giving back to society, pursuant to the motto of this club.
